After being away from school and homework assignments, I found it difficult finding a subject to draw. But I had to look no further than under my monitor. My desk is littered with random trinkets I've collected and have yet to put away on my shelf not too far behind me. But as the avid horse lover I am, I naturally gravitated to my little, antique, Lipizzaner figurine.
Drawing horses always brings a comfort to me since I have been learning about their anatomy since I was 9 years old. So, I found myself enjoying the sketching process, which sadly hasn't happened for a while now. When it came down to coloring and rendering, I didn't hold myself to a standard. Honestly, I picked two colors that seemed close enough and worked from there. I found more joy in playing with the colors I created than trying to find the exact match of the figurine. I explored with cool highlights, warm shadows and contrasting bounce light.
All in all, I enjoyed making this painting, and if I was to give any advice, let loose sometimes. What you create is not for the likes and googly eyes, but for your enjoyment, so have fun with it.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day. :)
